I spent the whole weekend getting out from under the mountain of reading that I had let accumulate. It's not that I have been blowing it off but the last week there was quite a bit of it. Now I have about 3 assignments to juggle, all of which will be coming due in the next 3 weeks.

Like they said in orientation, 'It's graduate school, if it were easy everyone would do it.'

Goodies for me!

I got my Indiana Jones box set this weekend! Sweet. This is one of the most anticipated DVD releases for a lot of DVD buyers. Melinda and I already watched 'Radiers of the Lost Ark', or should I say I watched it and Melinda fell asleep on the couch.

I also got 'Matrix:Reloaded', not quite as sweet. I forgot that it was a pretty crappy movie. If they cut out about 20 minutes of stoopid Zion dancing and crappy Keanu dialogue then they would have had 90 minute movie that was actionpacked from beginning to end, I'm a sucker for CG. I have the first one and now I have the second one and the shill that I am, I'll prolly buy the third one so I can have the complete set. I WILL NOT be buying the special limited edition Matrix action pack should there ever be one. You mark my words.

School House Rock

When I first started bartending I used to have work anxiety dreams after an especially rough night. All bartenders have them at one time or another; A fight breaks out just as the bar is closing, you can't get the taps to turn off and beer is running everywhere, it's well after closing time and the bar is completely full of people while the liquor control agent is walking in the door. You know, the kind of dreams you have when you are on the border line of losing control.

I had my first dream about school this morning, gratefully to a much lesser degree but non-the-less interesting. It primarily consisted of wandering around the grand stair and reading room at Suzzallo Library. It's not often that I remember my dreams so I thought this one worth remembering.

Anyway, considering I'm putting off reading and working on a paper, I had better get back to it. Ah yes, procrastination my old college chum.

I can already tell that time is going to be a premium while I'm in school. Ever since my time as a bartender I have been a night owl, so the nights I would like to get to sleep before 1:00 or 2:00 am I'm usally shit outta luck. Being tired all the time is no way to live life.

I bought the domain for the CIP and will be building a site for them in the near future. I just need to take some pics of the building, neon, etc.. I'm going to build their site for barter, I'm sure beer and bagel dogs will be golden once I'm in the thick of my masters studies. We have an ASIS mixer at the pub tomorrow. It's going to be strange to be hanging out there again, I haven't been much of a regular for about 5 years now.

My new favorite site.

I saw a link for it on a fellow MLIS students site.

My lovely wife bought me an iPod for my birthday and I must say it totally rocks. As I've been doing my reading online for school, I have been ripping cd's and putting them on the iPod. So far I have about 2000 songs and room for about 3000 more. Whoa.

I have noticed on a few other peoples blogs that they sometimes include what they are reading, watching or listening to. I can dig that yo, so I thinks I'll co-opt it and call it my own. Seeing as I listen to a whole crapload of music at work an on the commute to school I think I'll just list a few that pop into my head.

In the iPod :
DJ Mark Farina - Mushroom Jazz
Various - Crooklyn Soundtrack

At work :
Visqueen - King Me
Strange Voices - Strange Voices

At home :
Guided by Voices - Isolation Drills
Jimmy Smith - Movin On
